With the Centre
refusing to intervene to stop the Union Public Service Commission from issuing
admit cards for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, aspirants resumed
their agitation on Friday for withdrawal of the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT).
Several persons were injured in protests in three places in the capital, one
near Parliament House. The agitation had resumed on Thursday night. Aspirants
had been waiting for word from a three-member committee examining their
apprehension that CSAT favoured students from English-medium schools and those
with an engineering background. With members raising the issue in
Parliament, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh
said in the Rajya Sabha that no student would suffer on account of the alleged
bias.
