Ø  Two Mumbai-based professionals and keen amateur birders have recently sighted and photographed a rare bird, Grey Hypocolius, at the Narara Marine National Park near Jamnagar in Gujarat. Kunal Munsiff (37), a chartered accountant working with a Mumbai multinational, and his friend, 52-year-old Nosherwan Sethna, spotted three specimens perched on the bushes of Pilu trees at the Narara Marine National Park. A slender, long tailed bird the size of Bulbul (about 19-21 cms), Grey Hypocolius is a migratory bird found in northern Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and western India.
Ø  Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Tuesday recommended use of a single number ‘112’ for all emergency services in the country, including police, fire brigade and ambulance. Presently, callers in India need to dial in different numbers for different emergencies such as 100 for police, 101 for fire, 102 for ambulance and 108 for emergency disaster management.

Ø  Eleven Indian nationals will fly home from Karachi by a special flight in a rare show of cooperation between India and Pakistan that has arisen from the conflict in Yemen. The 11 Indians arrived at Karachi port on Tuesday after sailing from Mokallah in Yemen, where they were rescued by Pakistani naval personnel onto the PNS Aslat. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif offered a special plane to transport them back to India, which was accepted by the Indian government. Last week, India evacuated three Pakistani nationals from Al Hodeidah to Djibouti as part of its rescue mission for Indians. At least 26 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia and France, several Asian countries and nearly all SAARC countries requested and received Indian assistance to help evacuate their citizens from Yemen in the past week.
