28 JUNE 2015: PM to launch Digital India on July 1

Ø  India and Thailand will sign a double taxation treaty and an MoU for setting up an Ayurveda Chair in one of the Thai Universities during the three-day visit of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. The Minister will be the guest of honour on Sunday at the inaugural ceremony of the 16th World Sanskrit Conference, where she will deliver her speech in Sanskrit. Over 600 scholars from 60 countries will participate in the five-day conference. Ms. Swaraj will co-chair India-Thailand Joint Commission meeting during which the two countries will sign a double taxation avoidance treaty and exchange instruments of ratification on the extradition treaty signed between them in 2013. She will have an audience with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, a scholar of Sanskrit and Royal Patron of the World Sanskrit Conference. Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani will attend the concluding ceremony of the conference on July 2.
Ø  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while sharing the roadmap for Digital India, will unveil various e-governance schemes such as Digital Locker, e-education and e-health at the Digital India Week. The big-ticket launch of the Rs. 1.13 lakh crore Digital India project will witness participation from over 10,000 guests. Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry, RIL Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani, Airbus India CEO Peter Gutsmiedl, Adiya Birla Group Chairman Kumaramangalam Birla and Delta Electronics CEO Ping Cheng are among the corporate heads expected at the event.

Ø  As part of India’s deepening maritime security cooperation with Indian Ocean littoral nations, INS Teg a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy which is on a two-month long deployment in the South Indian Ocean has docked at Port Victoria in Seychelles on Friday.
