Ø As per the directions of the Supreme Court, a team of officials, led by Swarana Subbarao,
Surveyor-General of India, commenced the
work on fixing the inter-State boundary between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh,
passing through the Bellary Reserve Forest.
Ø Award-winning journalist and anchor for Geo TV Hamid Mir was shot at by an unidentified gunman as he was
on his way to his office in Karachi from the airport at around 5 p.m. Karachi
police chief Shahid Hayat said Mr. Mir sustained three bullet injuries but is
reportedly out of danger. Meanwhile, in a startling accusation on TV, Amir Mir,
Hamid’s brother blamed ISI chief Lt. Gen. Zaheer-ul-Islam for the attack.
Ø Indian Mujahideen (IM) co-founder Yasin Bhatkal and his aide Asadullah
Akhtar were charge-sheeted by the Delhi Police on Saturday in connection with
the September 2010 Jama Masjid terror attack case in which two Taiwani tourists
sustained bullet injuries.
Ø China has for the first time released details of its recently announced
“maritime
Silk Road” plan, announcing that the Indian
Ocean-focused initiative will prioritise building ports and improving
infrastructure in littoral countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. In
the first official details of the plan, a report in the China
Securities Journal said
a “priority” of the initiative was “port construction” and free trade zones.
