in more than 30 years — an American won the men’s race. Eritrean-born Meb Keflezighi won the race. Kenya’s Rita Jeptoo won the women’s race in a course-record 2 hours, 18 minutes, 57 seconds,
defending a championship from last year.

Ø The CBI has summoned the former Coal
Secretary, P.C. Parakh, for examination on April 25
for his alleged role in the allocation of Talabira-II coal block in Odisha to Hindalco Industries. Mr. Parakh recently released his book
criticising the agency for having registered a case against him. The CBI probe
is to ascertain how the screening committee decision to allocate the coal block
to public sector unit Neyveli Lignite Limited was overturned in favour of
Hindalco.
Ø Pakistan on Tuesday conducted a successful training launch of the short range
surface-to-surface ballistic missile Hatf III (Ghaznavi), which can carry nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 290 km.
