Ø The National Gallery of
Australia has surrendered to the Indian claim that a Chola-era Nataraja that it acquired for (A) $5.6 million had indeed been stolen from a
village temple in Tamil Nadu, paving the way for an early return of the idol to
India.
Ø Fifteen high-ranking Russians and Ukrainians have been targeted in the
third round of sanctions slapped against Russia by the European Union. The
senior-most of those whose names were announced on April 29 by the EU is General Valery
Vasilevich Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff
of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, who was “responsible for the
massive deployment of Russian troops along the border with Ukraine and lack of
de-escalation of the situation,” says the text of the EU decision published in
the EU Official Journal.
