the G-20 summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s point person, or ‘Sherpa,’
Suresh Prabhu said. Describing key environment and clean energy concerns
that India will take up at the summit in Brisbane from November 14 to 16, Mr.
Prabhu said India would seek “energy efficiency laws as well as changing the
energy mix to push for renewable energies.”
Ø Suzlon Energy, put into operation the world’s tallest hybrid
wind generator turbine. The turbine, it
is claimed, will generate 12-15 per cent more energy. The 120-metre
hybrid turbine, inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, had been
designed and developed by local engineers. With this new turbine, the
installed wind energy capacity at the Kutch region of Gujarat has gone up to
1,100 MW. And, this makes it the Asia’s biggest wind energy park at one
location, according to Tulsi Tanti, Chairman and Managing Director of Suzlon.
