Ø  Congress president Sonia Gandhi has resigned from the chairpersonship of Nehru Memorial Museum and Library. She also quit from the membership of the National Committee on the Commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Ø  The former Intelligence Bureau chief, Rajiv Mathur, took over as the new Chief Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commission. He was administered the oath of office by President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Ø  Data compiled by the independent, non-partisan legislative research group, PRS Legislative Research, shows that 315 of the 543 elected MPs — or 58 per cent — are first-timers. This is the highest number of debutants since the 1980 election (329) and the 1977 post-Emergency election (376).
