Ø In a far-reaching decision, the Narmada Control Authority gave its nod
to Gujarat for raising the height of the Narmada dam to the full reservoir level of 138.72 metres from the present 121.92 metres. The gates will be installed in an “open position” for now. The NCA,
chaired by Water Resources Secretary Alok Rawat, took the decision at an “emergency meeting” of the
Ministries concerned and the States of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and
Rajasthan.

Ø Vishal Sikka, known globally as the brain behind German major SAP’s flagship data
analytics product HANA, is the new Infosys CEO. The country's second largest IT
exporter named him to the top post, making him the first non-founder member to
head the company.
Ø The Gujarat delegation visited the Amma canteen at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. Amma canteen uses the
services of women self-help groups in the State. Gujarat officials are
going to implement it. We need to study more on infrastructure and the modalities.
More than 10 lakh candidates who have complete industrial training are ready to
work in such a system.

Programme aimed at incentivising Kashmiri Pandits to return
to the Valley.
